Community Engagement

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

There are three wings of NCC Senior Division in the college, viz., Army Wing. Naval Wing and Air Wing and one NCC Naval unit for Girls. For selection and enrolment, the student must submit the duly filled prescribed form. Tentative dates of selections may be seen in the "Schedule of the College activities" in the Information bulletin. Every year, applications for selection are invited by the respective NCC Officers. The notices are displayed on the NCC notice board. Inter-wing transfer is not permissible.

Eligibility

The applicant for I year NCC should be a physically and mentally fit Indian national below 23 years of age, possessing sound character. He should be a regular student of the college who has not been convicted and is not a member of any unlawful organization.

Activities

NCC cadets are imparted training's of parade, firing, gliding, boat-pulling, sailing, aero-modeling, etc. through which the qualities of discipline, leadership, co-operation, patriotism, courage and entrepreneurship are inculcated. On special occasions, opportunities are provided for trekking, mountaineering, para-sailing etc. Opportunities are also provided to watch the functioning of, and to work with, the Indian Armed Forces so that the students may imbibe bravery, character and conscientious citizenship, and volunteer to defend lives and national property during calamities.

There are specific Professors-in-charge for these activities. A student can obtain detailed information from them and get himself/ herself enrolled. Special achievements in these activities entitle a student to bonus marks while determining the merit for admission to post-graduate classes. National Service Scheme (NSS)

The objective of this activity is to direct the energy of the youth in various national service schemes. Its goal is to develop leadership qualities and foster dignity of labour. It imparts raining of community living for welfare activities in three areas, viz. rural, urban and institutional. Further. the NSS organizes two compulsory camps for rural development Free lodging and boarding is provided during the camp. A few students are selected for national/state-level camps every year. The students joining this activity will have to fulfil 65% attendance. Three units of NSS are sanctioned for the college. NSS Volunteers are supposed to participate and maintain discipline in all functions of the college.


Scout (Rovering/Rangering)

Rovering is not an alternative to NCC/NSS/Games but an, additional activity. The rovers of the college have been honored several times. Any student who has had the required experience of scouting at the school level can be enrolled as a rover at the college level and participate in Rover Program of national repute. Rangering is a voluntary, non-political educational movement with the purpose of training young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individual, as reponsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.
